The Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (known now by many names, but most widely as the “stimulus bill”) included a number of health care specific provisions including the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (“HITECH”) which “beefed-up” portions of HIPAA and widened its application.  This Client Alert for our hospital clients addresses the HITECH changes.
